The goals of Physical Plant is to utilize the diverse work knowledge of each employee to ensure the facilities, grounds, and equipment are operating efficiently and in full potential usage with the safety, comfort, and needs met within the allocated budget for the students, faculty, staff, administration, and community.

Emergencies After Normal Office Hours
Physical Plant has personnel available for emergencies occurring after normal working hours and/or the weekends.
The Director of Physical Plant is on call Monday - Thursday. Emergencies occurring Friday - Sunday are handled by the four maintenance personnel with each person designated a weekend. A calendar of on-call personnel is distribued to:
- Campus Security
- Assitant Dean of Students
- Director of Residence Life
- Food Service
- VP for Business Affairs
For dormitory emergencies, the student may contact campus security, (803) 321-5600, or the Director of Residence Life, (803) 924-7991.
Facility Reservations
The facilities of Newberry College can be reserved by the faculty, staff, students, and the public for events, The completion of proper documentation must be completed in order to use any facility on campus. Without the proper documentation, a facility will not be available for use.

Vehicle Reservations
Physical Plant maintains the college's pool vehicle fleet. At present, the fleet consists of:
- two 1998 Oldsmobile Cutlass
- two 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix
- one 1993 Ford Aerostar Van (7 passenger)
These vehicles are avialable for use by approved faculty, staff, and, in certain circumstances, students to attend college related functions. Proper driving documentation must be submitted to the Business Office before a person is allowed to drive.
If available, it is recommended a college vehicle be reserved to attend functions.
The rate of $.28 per mile will be charged to the department using a vehicle. A gas credit card will be provided for departments without one.
Keys
The Director of Physical Plant maintains keys to all college facilities. Faculty and staff may request keys by submitting written documentation to their department head. This request is then submitted to the VP for Business Affairs for approval. Approved keys may be picked up in the Physical Plant office during business hours. When employment is terminated by either party, all college keys are to be turned in to the Director of Human Resources during their exit interview or to the Administrative Assistant to the Director of Physical Plant.
