Columbia Newspaper:  The State 

The State is the largest newspaper in South Carolina. It provides local, national, and international news, with comprehensive coverage of the South Carolina General Assembly and state agencies. Other areas of particular emphasis include education, the environment, technology, and tourism. Local major educational institutions are the University of South Carolina, Columbia College, and S.C. State University.

	DISCUS (Digital Information for South Carolina USers) is the state's Virtual Library.  It provides all South Carolinians with access to an electronic library of essential information and learning resources.
	The electronic resources funded by PASCAL  (Partnership Among South Carolina's Academic Libraries) build on the general-level information resources furnished by DISCUS.
	Newberry College provides the Wessels Library with funds to purchase the balance of the electronic resources.
