Dr.
Cindy Johnson-Taylor is the Chair of the Education Department
at Newberry College . Dr. Johnson-Taylor came to the College
from Winthrop University, where she served as Director of the
Teacher Education Program for nine years. Prior to entering
the higher education arena, Dr. Johnson-Taylor was a high
school assistant principal and a high school English teacher
at Rock Hill High School. She has a wealth
of experience in teacher education. As Chair, she serves as
the Teacher Cadet College Partner Coordinator and holds the
rank of associate professor.
Dr. Johnson-Taylor has served on the SC ADEPT task force and
is recognized in SC as a driving force in teacher education
and school leadership. She has been published in the areas
of mentoring, teacher education and school leadership. Her
most recent article, "Next in Line: Preparing Assistant
Principals for the Principalship," was published in the
April issue of Principal Leadership. She is also
very involved with SREB (Southern Regional Education Board)
initiatives and is a certified trainer for SREB in the area
of Leading Assessment and Instruction.
Her academic credentials include a Bachelor's Degree in English
and a Master's Degree in Secondary Education from Winthrop
University. She also has an Educational Specialist Degree
from the University of South Carolina and an earned doctorate
from the University of South Carolina, both in the field
of Educational Leadership.

Renee Cousins Stubbs

A 1977
graduate of Newberry College, Mrs. Stubbs returned home to
help train excellent teachers for South Carolina's classrooms.
She also has a Master's Degree in Secondary Math Education
from Converse College and has completed numerous advanced
graduate courses at USC, Clemson, and Furman in Secondary
Education. In addition, she has served as an adjunct professor
at Furman for six years.
Having served as an Instructional Coach for Greenville County
Schools, Mrs. Stubbs brings a wealth of expertise to the Education
program regarding current best practice in instruction and
technology. She is an Intel Master Teacher in the Intel Teach
to the Future program and is involved in the High Schools
That Work initiative through the Southern Regional Education
Board.
She serves as the Higher Education Liaison for SC-ASCD, is a member of Rotary International, and serves on the Newberry Opera House Guild.
Mrs. Stubbs has also been a presenter at national, state
and local conferences on the topics of best practices and
the appropriate use of technology in the classroom.
Mrs. Cathy Mitchell

As a 1970 graduate
of Newberry, Mrs. Mitchell has previously worked as anelementary/early
childhood teacher,elementary principal, Director of
Instruction for Newberry County Schools, and Curriculum Specialist
for the SC State Department of Education.
Mrs. Mitchell has her Masters + 30 hours from the University of South Carolina. She is a member
of the SC Board of Examiners for NCATE in SC and she has presented at
the SC Early Childhood Association. She is also the Kappa Delta Pi and Alpha
Xi Delta faculty advisor, a Reading First Trainer, State Department
of Education Assessor, and a Cognitive Coaching mentor.
She is married to Wayne Mitchell and has four children, seven grandchildren,
and one great-grandchild.
Dr. Glenna Zeak

Dr. Glenna Zeak is the Associate Professor of Early Childhood Education at Newberry College. Dr. Zeak came to Newberry from Penn State University, Pennsylvania, where she served as the Early Childhood Student Teacher Supervisor. While there, she also taught early childhood and human development classes.
Dr. Zeak has also worked as a Head Start federal reviewer. She has served as an Early Childhood Consultant for High Scope and other child-care programs across the state of Pennsylvania. She has also worked as a NAEYC evaluator and Child Development Associate (CDA) for the past ten years. Dr. Zeak also teaches online early childhood classes for Northhampton Community College.
For her scholarly works, Dr. Zeak published an article titled "Portrait of a Head Start Parent" in the 1996 edition of Early Childhood Journal. The article was edited by Dr. Mary Renek-Jalongo.
Her academic credentials include a Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master's of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education from Penn State University. Dr. Zeak also has a doctorate in Curriculum and Instructional Early Childhood Education from Penn State. The title of her doctoral dissertation was, "Experiencing Variety and Change in Head Start Policies and Procedures: Personal and Professional Reflections."
Dr. Zeak currently resides in Newberry, SC with her husband, Joe. They have been married for 22 years. They have five children and three grandchildren.
Pastor Todd Cutter

Pastor Todd Cutter is currently the campus pastor at Newberry College. He joined the College faculty in June of 2006 and taught an education course during fall 2006. He will also be teaching another education course during the semester of spring 2008.
Pastor Cutter's academic credentials include a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Lenoir-Rhyne, a Master's Degree in Agency/Community Counseling from Lenoir-Rhyne, and a Master of Divinity from the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary.
He is married to Sara Cutter, who will be graduating from the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia in May of 2008.
Dr. Charles W. Hatch

Dr. Charles Hatch is the President of CWH Consulting Co. He is currently acting as a visiting professor for the Newberry College Education Department. His main objective is to help education students prepare for PRAXIS I and/or II exams.
Along with PRAXIS, Dr. Hatch is also a workshop leader in test preparation for NTE, EEE, SAT, ACT, and South Carolina Exit exams. He has also been a member of the Board of Directors of the Institute for Evidence Based Decision Making in Education (EDIE) since 2003 and president since March 2007. This institute is a publisher of specialized educational works. Dr. Hatch has also conducted workshops for the PRAXIS in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Arkansas.
In addition, Dr. Hatch has taught English and social studies classes for grades 7-12, and he has taught undergraduate courses in statistics at Limestone College and computers at Coker College. He has also taught graduate courses in research, measurement, statistics, and microcomputers at the University of South Carolina. Dr. Hatch is also a co-author of the Educators' Handbook on Effective Testing, which was published in 2003.
Dr. Hatch's academic credentials include a Bachelor's Degree from the University of South Carolina, a Master of Arts for Teachers Degree from Johns Hopkins University, and a doctorate from the University of South Carolina in the field of Educational Research.

Nancy Warren

Mrs. Nancy Warren is originally from Greenville, SC andshe has worked at Newberry College for the past 20 years in various departments; she has worked with the Teacher Education Program since 2001.
A 2000 graduate of Newberry College with a B.A. in English, Mrs. Warren is also a member of the Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society and the Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society. She is a honorary member of the Kappa Delta Pi Education Honor Society. Mrs Warren also belongs to the Newberry College Women's League. In addition, she is the Membership Vice President of the American Association of University Women (AAUW).
Mrs. Warren currently resides in Newberry, where she has lived with her husband, Eddie, for the past 40 years. She has two children and two grandchildren.
