The Science and Mathematics department provides incredible opportunities for hands-on learning experiences. You will find student research projects, internships, student teaching, and other field experiences that combine learning with doing. Newberry College is near many of South Carolina's best forensics labs, which facilitates internships and field trips. Planned renovations to the facility will provide state-of-the-art lab space to house our cutting edge instrumentation and provide an environment for lab discovery, all designed to American Chemical Society standards. The department provides outreach opportunities for students, - to assist event leaders in the South Carolina Science Olympiad and visit area schools to conduct science exploration activities with the nationally recognized Newberry College American Chemical Society student chapter. Students have opportunities to conduct research through collaborative grants with other local universities, apply for Research Experiences for Undergraduates, and participate in research as part of the Newberry College’s Summer Mentoring and Research Training (SMART) Program.
