Why should I choose a baccalaureate program?

The baccalaureate degree—also known as a four year degree, bachelor's degree, and BSN—is the best preparation to be a professional nurse. Not only are baccalaureate prepared nurses better equipped to keep up with the advances in technology and nursing, they are also better prepared for management positions. Additionally, the baccalaureate is required for the nurse wanting to pursue a masters or doctorate in nursing. The main difference in study between baccalaureate and other programs is the emphasis on a broad, liberal arts education and additional education in physical assessment, nursing research, wellness nursing, community health nursing, and nursing.
