Creating a Better Future By Preparing Teachers Who Are Caring, Reflective,

Life-Long Learners

Though a small college, Newberry has helped prepare hundreds of professional educators for the school system. (NC graduates have taught at the primary and secondary levels, as well as the collegiate level of instruction.)  All faculty in the Department of Education have been public school teachers and have extensive experience working in other aspects of education.

What does Newberry offer?

  • National accreditation through NCATE
  • Opportunities to observe and participate in classrooms as a college freshman and beyond
  • The South Carolina Teaching Fellows Program with the theme "Living in a Digital Age: Responding to Change"
  • A teacher education program with emphasis on best practice in instruction and assessment
  • Small classes with personal attention in a friendly, safe, and caring environment
