Nancy Rosenwald – Director of Wessels Library

I manage the library facilities, supervise library staff, and administer library programs and services. I am also responsible for collection development, and help out with reference questions and library instruction. I enjoy working with students and faculty, and like to think of research as a giant mystery in which I get to be the detective. Strangely enough, I read every day and am training for a half marathon in December 2012.

Sandy Smith – Administrative Assistant to the Director

I handle all administrative activities for the library, assist the director with budgeting and tracking expenses, as well as manage the library's recreational reading collection. I joined the Wessels lIbrary staff in October 1997 as the assistant to the public services librarian, and in January 2006 began in my current position as assistant to the director. While here at Newberry, I have been blessed with many wonderful experiences but none as wonderful, or as meaningful as the education I received here. In December 2008, I graduated with a BA in History, and with minors in English, and Creative Writing. In fact, I was the first to graduate with Creative Writing minor here at Newberry. I have a daughter who graduated before me in 2006, something she has never let me live down. Currently, I am pursuing my MLIS (Masters in Library and Information Science) at the University of South Carolina and will graduate in December 2013.

Shamekia Bell – Public Services Assistant

I manage the reserve desk and PASCAL Delivers operations, as well as provide circulation and reference support for all library users. I also handle all interlibrary loan requests. I began working at Newberry College in October 2008 as the Assistant to the Public Services Librarian. Being a people oriented person helps me to perform to the best of my abilities. I enjoy working with others, and throughout the years have gained a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for the people I work with, this institution, and for our students. In addition to my dedication to this college, I am also the loving mother of three adorable children, Autumn, Maalik, and Zachary. No matter how much it may rain outside, these three will surely bring the sunshine.

Janice Hudson – Technical Services Assistant

Having lived on the outskirts of Newberry, but still in Newberry County, most of my life, the campus of Newberry College has always been a familiar place to me. As a child, I attended many events here on campus with local schools. I actually graduated from high school in Wiles Chapel while we were under a tornado warning. Then in February of 1997, I was given the opportunity to join the Wessels Library staff in the acquisition and cataloging department. Before then, I had worked mostly in retail and customer service. My very first job was that of a "soda jerk." I still remember how to make a mean Cherry Coke. When not here at the Wessels Library, I like to cook, read, do word search puzzles, shop at thrift stores, and spend time with my family and friends. Time with my family always includes listening to my son play the piano and playing with my two precious grandchildren. I also teach first and second grade Sunday school at my church and have a fascination with hummingbirds.
