Transfer Course Equivalency Guide

Newberry College Admissions Requirements
All applicants must be eligible to return to the last post-secondary school attended. Transfer applicants must provide transcripts from all post-secondary schools they have attended. Applicants must have a cumulative 2.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Transfer students with fewer than 24 hours (36 quarter hours) of post-secondary education must provide a high school transcript and standardized test scores. Students are evaluated on GPA, high school class standing, and SAT/ACT test scores. This requirement is waived for applicants 25 years of age or older. Transfer students must meet all requirements of entering students. However, adult learners' life time and professional experiences will be taken into consideration at the time of admission.

Transfer Credit Evaluation

Course work/is evaluated by the Registrar's Office. Upon admission, applicants' transcripts are reviewed by the Registrar and forwarded to the appropriate office for academic advising.

Transfer Credit Restrictions

  1. Credit is not granted by transfer for vocational, remedial or developmental courses.
  2. Transfer students may transfer up to a maximum of 72 semester hours from junior, technical, or community colleges. For students transferring from a 2-year school, a minimum of 21 semester hours in the major and 8 hours in the minor must be completed at Newberry College; and, students must complete the last 32 hours at Newberry College.
  3. Courses taken at the junior college level will not be substituted for 300 and 400 level courses.
  4. All courses which can be applied to the Newberry College degree will be a grade of "C" or higher in the course work being transferred.
  5. Newberry College reserves the right to determine whether any particular course meets the requirements and standards of the College for transfer. Although a course may transfer, it may not apply directly to a particular major or program.
