During his lifetime, John D. Muller, Jr. a Newberry College alumnus, devoted himself to causes concerning youth involvement in Christian ministry and historical preservation. Through a generous bequest to Newberry College, Mr. Muller established an endowed scholarship for the purposes of supporting undergraduate students who wish to pursue careers in Christian ministry.
According to the terms of the endowment, The John D. Muller, Jr. Christian Ministry Scholarship is available to freshmen or transfer students who have been accepted to Newberry College and who wish to devote their studies to the arts or other work fitting them for Christian education or music or work leading to theological studies in the Seminary.
Specifically, to be eligible for The John D. Muller, Jr. Christian Ministry Scholarship, a candidate must:
The Scholarship is renewable for up to four years of undergraduate studies at the College, as long as the recipient is enrolled full time, matriculating in an undergraduate degree program, maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, and continues to meet the eligibility requirements outlined above by maintaining a course of studies and/or active campus involvement related to a career in Christian ministry.

Candidates are encouraged to submit these materials as soon as possible for eligibility for the fall 2012 semester. The Scholarship Committee will begin considering applications and making awards as early as February 1, 2012. Awards will be made until funding from the endowment is exhausted for 2012-13. To reserve the Scholarship, a successful candidate is expected to make an enrollment deposit of $300 for the fall 2012 semester to the College within 15 days of award notification; this deposit holds both the Scholarship award and the student’s place in the incoming class, and is refundable until May 1, 2012.
