Newberry College Lutheran Student Testimonials

The reasons I believe one should attend a private, Lutheran affiliated college, is that you have somewhere where you can make a name for yourself, and not just be another ant in the colony.  Here at Newberry, you can get involved in just about any and everything, and not have to worry about getting overwhelmed.  We are known for having a “small campus, but a big community.”  That is because everyone has a strong sense of values and are willing to share their friendship.  I haven't even finished my first semester, and I already have a ton of friends that I didn't have in high school.  It is glorious to have a place, like Newberry, where you can feel spiritually comfortable.  –Jayson Audette

The main perk to me of being able to attend THIS Lutheran college as a Lutheran is, if for nothing else, the amazing fellowship or “great sense of community.”  You could stop any student on campus at any given point during the day and they would say the best things about NC is it's family-like atmosphere.  We are a tightly knit group of students, faculty and staff here, and it is no doubt a result of the Christian fellowship that is so essential to a happy life, especially now that we are out on our own.  – Sydnee Stephens

Because I am a Lutheran, there is extra financial aid available to me through my church and through Newberry College. Also, Newberry has an excellent LSM, which provides students with a great sense of community.  The faculty, especially the religion department, helps prepare students for service in the church, whether its lay ministry or ordained ministry. – Andrew Isenhower

I decided to come to Newberry because I saw how it influenced both of my parents.  Both attended Newberry and were strong in their faith and attending this school strengthened their faith even more.  I decided to attend Newberry because I realized the many opportunities I had here.  Through many extracurricular activities, I was not only able to strengthen my Lutheran faith, but I also had many opportunities to grow as a person.  Being Lutheran has allowed me to be open to many different organizations and different people. –Cara Lee

I chose Newberry College because it was a Lutheran College; I knew that I would instantly have a close set of friends.  During my years, Newberry College has exceeded my expectations.  I have formed lasting friendships, many of them with other Lutheran students.  I have belonged to a community, especially Lutheran Student Movement which allows me to discuss my formulating beliefs in a valued-center community. Going to a Lutheran College is a great advantage because, the faculty act as mentors and are interested in the students.  The students get more involved in the classroom discussions, which prepare the student for the real world, and many friends are made because everyone has to work together and help each other along the way to success.  – Craig Wheatley
