Alumni Jean Haggard Earns Honorary State FFA Degree

June 23, 2012

Jean Haggard of Pelion, S.C. received her Honorary State FFA Degree at the 85th annual South Carolina FFA State Convention at Clemson University. To earn this degree an individual must show commitment and dedication to the Local and State FFA. The Honorary State Degree is the highest degree the South Carolina FFA Association confers to adults.

The South Carolina FFA association is affiliated with the National FFA Organization. The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.

Mrs. Haggard is greatly appreciated by the Pelion High School FFA Chapter, where she has recently retired as the principal. Under her leadership, Lexington School District One opened its state-of-the-art Center for Advanced Agribusiness Research that houses advanced agricultural education classes. She has been very supportive of the chapter, attending numerous events and allowing the students to participate in many state events. Mrs. Haggard is a graduate of Newberry College.
