We want to make your transition into Newberry College as easy as possible, which is why we require all new students to attend one of the Wolf Pack Welcome sessions. By attending Wolf Pack Welcome, you will be ready for your first day of classes!
Dates for Summer 2015:
Wolf Pack Welcome is our New Student Orientation program for freshmen and transfer students. At Wolf Pack Welcome, you will have a chance to experience life at Newberry College, make meaningful connections with your new classmates and learn about campus resources.
This two-day freshman experience includes an overnight stay in one of our residence halls. The transfer student program is a one-day program specifically designed to meet the needs of transfer students. Both programs include placement testing, lunch with faculty/staff representatives and an opportunity to meet with an academic advisor to register for courses.
Our faculty, staff and orientation team are ready to welcome you into the Newberry College Wolf family! If you have any questions, please contact the Office of Student Affairs at (803) 321-5146.
Once you have been admitted and paid the enrollment fee, you will be given access to the "Enrollment Fee Paid" tab in Wolf Den, where you will be able to select your preferred session date.
The earlier you attend Wolf Pack Welcome, the sooner you can take care of the details necessary to enroll. You will also meet other new and current students, so attending an earlier date will allow you the opportunity to start developing those relationships much sooner.
We have designed an orientation program to meet the needs of transfer students. The program includes informative sessions about campus resources, an opportunity to receive your Newberry College ID card and a meeting with an academic advisor to finalize your course schedule.
For questions or concerns related to transfer orientation or the transfer process, contact:
The Center for Student Success at (803) 321-5362.
We encourage parents and/or guardians to attend Wolf Pack Welcome. The family program runs at the same time as the student program with a format specifically designed to acquaint family members with Newberry College. Family members and students will be together for some sessions and for lunch with faculty/staff representatives.
Other sessions for families include:
• Helping your student through the first year of college
• Applying for Financial Aid and paying tuition and fees
• Understanding academic policies, graduation requirements and support services
• Learning about life on campus, health services, safety, and student success programs
The cost for Family Orientation is free for 2 guests/family members of a freshman student. Additional guests are $10 per person (children 5 and under are free). Payment will be accepted on the day of orientation in the form of cash or check (made payable to Newberry College).
Wolf Pack Welcome would be impossible without our Alpha Student Leaders! The Alpha Leaders are a team of students trained and ready to help you get started at Newberry College. Alpha Leaders are involved on campus in student organizations, Greek Life, athletics and student government association.
Alpha Leaders participate in every Wolf Pack Welcome summer session.

August 22 - 23
The Howl Effect is a welcome retreat for all freshmen and transfers that occurs the day after freshmen move in. This is a mandatory event for all freshmen, but optional for transfer students. Only students may attend this event. Howl Effect consists of the following:
• Social activities and team building. These activities will help you develop friendships that will last your entire college career and beyond. You will be joined by your Alpha Student Leaders and other faculty and staff to participate in group discussions about transitioning to college and learning what it means when we say “Hail Scarlet and the Gray.”
•A worship service and other activities sponsored by the student programming board. We will end the retreat with a candlelight service to officially welcome you as a Newberry Wolf. Our hope is that you will feel at home at Newberry College and be ready to engage in the community with confidence.
Following HOWL Effect is the Week of Welcome (WOW), your opportunity to join upperclassmen in welcome activities sponsored by the Office of Student Affairs.
