Director of Financial Reporting

Job Description: Reports directly to the Vice President forAdministrative Services/CFO and is responsible for the financial reporting ofthe College including preparation and distribution of financial statements toaccurately reflect the financial position of the Institution.  Responsible for financial reports to variousoutside entities including IPEDS, and accrediting bodies.  Ensures that documentation complies withCollege policies, professional standards, GAAP reporting guidelines, FASBpronouncements, NACUBO guidelines and NCAA requirements.  Maintains accurate and timely financialdata.  Acts as liaison and oversees thework of the external auditors.Additional duties include managing fixed asset accounting, ensuring theaccuracy of the financial system to ensure that the Jenzabar chart of accounts ismaintained and updated and new accounts are established as necessary.

Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in a related area, CPA/ CPA candidate or relative workexperience, proven ability to prepare financialstatements, and demonstrated knowledge of GAAP (FASB) and not for profitaccounting.  Experience in private HigherEducation, and Jenzabar preferred.

Additional Qualifications: Ability to work with complexautomated systems;  good oral and writtencommunication skills; strong analytical skills with the ability to summarizedetailed data into meaningful management reports and interpret policies; strongorganizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and performdetailed work; Ability to work well with a diverse group of individuals;Ability to establish and document adequate internal controls.

Associate Director of Institutional Research

Job Description: Newberry College invites applications for the position of Associate Director of Institutional Research in the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness (OIRE).  The Associate Director reports to the Executive Director of OIRE on projects that involve data analysis and other research that supports the mission of the college. 


A successful candidate will work collaboratively within the unit to collect and analyze internal and external data, report on that data, and maintain IR databases.  The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated record of success collaborating across a wide range of administrative units and be able to manage multiple complex analysis simultaneously.  They will also have the ability to translate complex technical issues into non-technical language.  They are expected to have and maintain a current knowledge of contemporary and emerging trends in higher education.


Key Responsibilities:

Collect, prepare, analyze, report on and archive college data with regards to student preparation, student performance, academic program administration, student life, co-curricular involvement, recruitment and retention.

Prepare annual assessment reports on student programs and educational support services

Provide expertise to academic programs centered on program improvement

Assist with internal needs requests for data mining, research, analysis and interpretation

Work collaboratively with OIRE personnel to prepare external reports (~20/year)

Represent OIRE on college committees and other workgroups as assigned.

Manage the administration of internal and externally normed assessments


Minimum Qualifications: 

A Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in a field that includes emphasis on research methods

Experience in survey design

Experience with SPSS, SAS or other statistical and/or quantitative analysis

Demonstrated experience querying a SQL database

A work history demonstrating progressive responsibilities in an institutional research setting

Strong oral and written communication skills. 

Knowledge of the requirements of higher education reporting.

Assistant Field Hockey Coach

Job Description:  This position is responsible for recruiting, skill instruction, scouting of opponents, correspondence, organizing home visits, organizing official visits and unofficial visits and coaching members of the Field Hockey Team during competition.

Core Job Functions:

  1. Remain current on SACS criteria and ensure compliance in area of control.
  2. Teach sport specific skills throughout the season as related to individual performance development.
  3. Coordinate a sport specific recruiting strategy.
  4. Responsible for administrative work related to team travel, purchasing, equipment and expenditures.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required. (Master's degree preferred). With one to two collegiate coaching experience including effective leadership, communication, coaching and recruiting skills.
