JOB
DESCRIPTION: The Assistant Athletic Trainer
will assist the Head Athletic Trainer with the day to day
running of the athletic training room and the supervision
of the student athletic trainers as well as the sports medicine
care of student-athletes. This is a full time 12-month
position with benefits.
CORE
JOB FUNCTIONS:
1.
Any other tasks as assigned by the VPIA/Director of Athletics
or the College President.
2.
Remain current on SACS criteria and ensure compliance in
area of control.
3.
Meet goals and objectives as communicated in the College's
Annual Performance Review.
4.
Effective stewardship of the College's financial resources.
5. Assists with work-study supervision.
6.
Assists with athletic training room supervision.
7.
Assists with athletic team coverage.
8.
Provide athletic training coverage as assigned by the Head
Athletic Trainer.
9.
Review injury records as assigned to ensure their accuracy
and timeliness.
10.Assist
with Drug Testing as needed.
11.Assist
with keeping up with daily practice/game schedules and coverage
12.Travel
with sport teams as assigned.
13.Assist
with pre-preparation physical exams.
14.Assist
with pre-practice treatments, and rehabilitation and prevention
of injury
programs.
15.responsible
to report all possible NCAA violations directly to the Assistant
Athletic
Director for Administration and
Compliance aand the Director of Athletics.

to uphold all South Atlantic Conference and NCAA rules in
a framework of
good ethical conduct; violation
may result in disciplinary action and/or termination of

PHYSICAL
DEMANDS: Ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds,
bending, standing for long periods, stooping, crawling,
squatting or kneeling. Ability to wear personal protective
equipment (gloves, masks) as necessary.
TRAVEL
REQUIREMENTS: Estimated at 40%
EDUCATIONAL
OR OTHER HIRING REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION:
REQUIRED:
Bachelors
degree, NATABOC Certification, First Aid and CPR Certification,
SC License eligibility required. Ability to work evenings
and weekends as required. Above average oral, written,
and computer skills. Ability to support the College's
mission. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Ability to build positive campus working relationships.
Maintain highly professional relationships with the College
community.
PREFERRED:
Master's
degree and some previous athletic training experience.
Experience
in Division II NCAA Conference.

COORDINATOR
FOR INTRAMURALS/AREA DIRECTOR OF RESIDENCE LIFE
JOB
DESCRIPTION: The Coordinator of Intramurals
is a member of the Office of Residence Life Professional
Staff and reports to the Director of Residence Life and
the Assistant Dean of Students. Primary areas of responsibility
include: staff supervision, staff training and development,
department operations, student development and programming.
Also, this position oversees the Office of Intramurals and
coordinates recreational activities fro the campus.
CORE
FUNCTIONS:

Any

Life or the Dean of Students.

professional associations.

Participate
in departmental, divisional and institutional committees

of Learning Leadership for new Resident Advisors (certain
qualifications apply.)

Participate
in the coordination of the opening and closing if the
residence halls.

Assist
in the adherence to institutional and departmental policies/procedures.

Perform
on-call responsibilities as required including a rotating
duty schedule with other residence hall professional staff,
walking with student staff members for hall rounds and
crisis management and emergency response.

Work
collaboratively with Physical Plant personnel in maintenance
of student housing facilities.

regular Student Affairs department meetings.

Conduct
monthly staff meetings with Area Resident Advisors.

Maintain
housing reports and data via the Jenzebar database and
use of Microsoft Office.

Coordinate
with the Director of Residence Life with housing issues
to include room assignments, room changes, and student
compliance with housing regulations.

Maintain
communication with campus community.

Respond
to issues concerning residential students.

Build
positive relationships with Newberry College community.
-
Be
available for individual student needs and concerns including
general counseling and referral of resident students.

Conduct
disciplinary counseling and hearings.

Advise
and support Resident Assistants regarding personal growth.

Respond
to students experiencing problems related to residence
hall living.

Provide
leadership and vision for the department's programming
development.

Oversee
the program conducted by Resident Advisors including evaluation,
implementation and program submission.
- Planning, marketing
and publicizing recreational activities (sport and non sport
related) for the campus.

training, scheduling and evaluating officials and student
workers for the intramural program.

and maintaining facilities for intramurals.

Description:
Ten-month appointment (beginning July 1, 2008): One year
assistantship program. This position will assist in all
areas of External Opeartions, including daily operations,
promotions, marketing, and ticketing. Candidate will also
oversee all oeprations of the Rowdy Red's student pep-organization.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree - Business, Marketing, Sports Management,

Sports
Information Intern (10 month)
Job
Title: Sports Information Assistant
Description:
Ten-month appointment (beginning July 1, 2008): One year
assistantship program. Prefer experience in sports information
with working knowledge of statistical software (StatCrew
and The Automated Scorebook) for various sports and record
keeping of all sports. The Sports Information Assistant
also assists in writing press releases, compilation of statistics,
writing, designing, and editing media guides, game programs,
and other publications.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree
Proficient
use of computers and desktop publishing (Adobe Creative
Suite - InDesign, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office).
Strong
organizational skills.

Maintenance
Trainee
Newberry
College is currently accepting applications for a Maintenance
Trainee. The Trainee will learn to perform a wide
variety of maintenance for all buildings, structures and
equipment owned by the College.
Required:
Ability to perform duties in a safe, effective manner.
Beginning knowledge of carpentry, electrical, plumbing,
HVAC systems, painting, and general maintenance. Able
to operate various maintenance and power tools. Good
attention to detail, high level of reliability, self motivated,
able to work in a team environment. Basic knowledge
of computers. Prefer a current driver's license.
Ability to work on a "call in" status as needed.
Physical
Requirements: Ability to lift 65+ lbs., climb, bend,
stoop, work in outside temperatures, and stand for extended
periods of time.
Preferred:
2 - 3 years experience in a maintenance setting.
