Newberry College Jazz Big Band to Perform on Spring Tour

The Newberry College Jazz Big Band will be traveling on its annual tour, performing at high schools and Lutheran churches throughout the southeast on February 3 - 6.

An invitation is extended to those who not only like listening to the sounds of jazz and big band music, but area high school students as well, who have an interest and talent in music.

The Jazz Big Band is made up of students from Newberry College with varying majors who will present the very best in big band, swing, jazz and ballads. Bill Long, associate professor of music is the director of the Jazz Big Band.

Lutheran Church Concerts:
Sun., Feb. 3 at 4:00 p.m. – Trinity Lutheran Church, Fellowship Hall- Lilburn, Ga.
Mon., Feb. 4 at 7:00 p.m. – St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Sanctuary – Columbus, Ga.
Tues., Feb. 5 at 7:00 p.m. – St. John’s Lutheran Church, Fellowship Hall- Walhalla, S.C.

High Schools:
Mon., Feb. 4 at 2:00 p.m. – Shaw High School, Band Room - Columbus, Ga.
Tues., Feb. 5 at 10:45 a.m. – Columbus State University, Band Room - Columbus, Ga.
Wed., Feb. 6 at 10:00 a.m. - Pickens High School, Auditorium, Pickens, S.C.

Save the date for the Jazz Big Band’s next performance with trombonist Conrad Herwig at the 56th Annual Newberry College Jazz Festival on March 2 in Wiles Chapel, on the Newberry College campus.
