Students Honored at SC Speech and Theatre Association Competition

NEWBERRY, S.C. - On Saturday February 2, 2013 students from the Newberry College Department of Arts and Communications competed in the South Carolina Speech and Theatre Association State College Festival Competition held at Tri-County Technical College in Easley, S.C.

Students participating on the Newberry College team included: Stephanie Strickland, Albert Padilla, Amanda Williams, Rachel Williams, Davida Goodwin, Ederik Inocente, Alex Sanchez, John Yackiel, and Kenny Robinson. Students were under the direction of Professors Patrick Gagliano, Mandy Butler, and Matthew Fuller.

The outstanding work of Newberry College students were recognized with the following awards:
Prose Interpretation:
1st place – Amanda Williams
2nd Place – Albert Padilla
3rd place – Stephanie Strickland
Poetry Interpretation:
2nd place – Kenny Robinson
3rd Place – Davida Goodwin
Theatrical Design:
3rd place – Albert Padilla
Informative Speaking:
3rd place - Stephanie Strickland
