Family Weekend Schedule 2013

Friday, September 27
3pm – 7pm:  Blood Drive sponsored by Blood Connection (Fountain Circle) Donate for a great cause that supports the local Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Donors will receive a special t-shirt designed for Newberry College and entered to win a family prize pack with football tickets to Saturday’s game.

4:30pm – 6pm: Registration (Holland Hall) Please stop by the Registration table to pick up your 2013 Family Weekend schedule, campus map and purchase a meal card for the weekend (cash/check only).

5pm – 6pm: President Scherrens Reception (Holland Hall) Meet our President, Dr. Maurice Scherrens and his wife Sandy, for a casual reception on the portico of Holland Hall.

8pm – 9pm: Family Feud (Wiles Chapel Theater) The popular game show comes to Newberry College! Similar to the tv show, families can participate to win prizes and enjoy a good time.

Saturday, September 28
10am – Noon: Registration (Bell Tower) Please stop by the Registration table to pick up your 2013 Family Weekend schedule, campus map and sign up for a campus tour, or purchase a meal card for the weekend (cash/check only). You can also see the list of mock classes being offered at 11 am.

10am: Open House (Wiles Chapel) Sponsored by our Admissions Office, prospective students have an opportunity to learn more about Newberry College and the enrollment process. The activities for Open House will last until 2:30pm. 

11am: Mock Classes (Bell Tower)
Get a taste of the classroom experience by choosing a mock class to attend and experience teaching by our award winning faculty. Stop by the information table to get a list of classes and locations.

11am – 1:30pm: Family Weekend Lunch (Kaufman Hall) All Newberry College parents, students, and other family members are invited for a luncheon with tailgate favorites. Newberry students with valid ID eat free; Adults and Children age 9 and older: $7

1:30pm – 2:30pm: Campus Tour (Bell Tower) This tour lead by our Student Ambassadors provides an opportunity for our families to see the latest campus renovations and additions including Java City, student game room and mail center.

2pm – 6pm: Spirit & Traditions (Walker Hall) Join us on the practice field in front of Walker Hall for inflatable games, spinning swing for kids, or take a free picture in our Family Weekend Photo Booth.

5pm: Spirit & Traditions Pep Rally (Big Fountain/Flag Pole)
Listen to the sounds of the Scarlet Spirit marching band and learn the fight song from the spirit cheer and dance squad.

1pm – 6pm: Athletic Events (various locations) Cheer on the Wolves at the following athletic events held on campus. No entrance fee required.
1pm Women’s Field Hockey vs Lindenwood (Setzler Field)
1:30pm Women’s Soccer vs. Catawba (Smith Road Complex)
4pm Men’s Soccer vs. Catawba (Smith Road Complex)
6pm: Kickoff: Newberry vs. Mars Hill Join us with your scarlet and gray as we cheer the wolves to victory at Setzler field.

Sunday, September 29
10am: Family Weekend Worship Service (Wiles Chapel) This service will feature our Newberry students, lead by our campus pastor, Rev. Ernie Worman.

2:30pm: Jazz on the lawn (Alumni Music Center lawn) Before you leave campus, enjoy the sounds of our award winning Jazz Combo band.

*There is no registration fee for Family Weekend and the only cost is for meals and tickets to Saturday’s football game.
