Available Majors, Minors, and Concentrations

The mission of the accounting program is to prepare students for professional careers in public accounting, industry and government, providing not only technical skills for a competitive field, but strengthening teamwork, ethics and leadership skills. Graduates are encouraged to take the Certified Public Accountant Exam.

Oversight for the Accounting program is provided by the Business Administration Advisory Committee, which consists of practicing CPAs and other professionals in the business community. The Department also sponsors one of the country's longest-running chapters of Phi Beta Lambda, the student business club.

Our mission is to prepare students for successful careers in public accounting, industry, and government by combining strong technical training with the professional skills employers value most. You’ll develop the professional strengths employers value most—teamwork, ethics, communication, and leadership—so you’re ready to step confidently into the workplace.

Students also have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program, where they receive training and may assist eligible community members with preparing federal and state tax returns. This experiential learning opportunity helps students strengthen their technical skills, build confidence working with real clients, and make a meaningful impact through service.

Graduates are encouraged to pursue professional credentials, including the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Exam.
