Jun 23 2019

June 23 - 25, 2019

Eleazer Arena (Newberry College)

Overnight: $150; Commuter: $100. Lunch included

This camp is designed for Beginners in the sport of Wrestling. “Beginners” are defined as brand new wrestlers and those entering their second season or newer.  This is an important time in a wrestler’s development. In this time wrestlers will develop habits that can set them up for long term success in the sport. It is also the time when, with positive coaching influences, they will develop a love for wrestling.

For ages 5 - 18 - grades k -12.

Try it before committing to the season – Wrestling isn’t for everyone, but you won’t really know until you’ve tried it out. A camp is perfect because it’s only a commitment of a few days and you will learn all the basic aspects of what’s involved in the sport.

  • Build Confidence – Camps can provide a jump start for upcoming seasons. Whether it’s his/her first time or they need to gain a competitive edge going into year two, the skills developed at camp will help.  In fact, sometimes just the experience of attending a camp can give kids a boost athletically and socially.

  • Improve Wrestling Skills – For 3 days we will focus on learning and sharpening wrestling skills. While some camps teach a high quantity of “moves”, this can result in the wrestler not retaining anything. We teach a system of progression that is designed to help kids learn and retain techniques, as well as way to apply techniques through drills and live wrestling.

  • Burn Summer Energy – Summer days can be long. Wrestling is a great way to get them exhausted.

  • Have Fun – Wrestling is a very rewarding sport and lots of fun. Campers will meet new friends and a special bond is built between those who train together.
