Dr. Daisy Bourassa-Dowd joined the Newberry College faculty in February 2021.
As an undergraduate at Simmons College, Dr. Bourassa-Dowd worked on the solid state, asymmetric reduction of ketones using a chiral borate ester. In graduate school, she used novel zinc and copper fluorescent probes to investigate metal distribution during cell division and development of zebrafish embryos. After Georgia Tech, she taught organic chemistry, biochemistry, and gender equity in STEM courses at Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Dr. Bourassa-Dowd was also the Associate Director of Residential Education at Agnes Scott, where she oversaw several living-learning communities.
In her spare time, she enjoys practicing yoga and hiking with her partner, Matt, and their three dogs, Maggie, Moxley and Bayley.
