Bio:

Melissa Taylor holds graduate nursing degrees with education specializations. Her master’s work focused on the perceived barriers present in RN to BSN education. Her doctoral work examined the impact of computerized adaptive quizzing on standardized nursing assessments. 

Prior to joining the faculty at Newberry College in 2017, Taylor taught clinical courses for Newberry College as well as for other local nursing schools. She has been an online adjunct faculty member both at University of Phoenix and South University prior to coming to Newberry full time. She has worked as a Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse at Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia, SC since 2003. She holds Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She was awarded the 2011 Adjunct Nursing Faculty of the Year award at Midlands Technical College and in 2006 was awarded both the Lexington Gold and Palmetto Gold awards. She is a member of the American Nurses Association, South Carolina Nurses Association, and Sigma Theta Tau. Her professional goal continues to be serving as an educator who positively impacts the lives of her students in the classroom and beyond, as well as a nurse who ministers to patients and families while caring for their healthcare needs.
