Newberry College will bring an eagerly anticipated new dining option to campus with the arrival of Chick-fil-A Express beginning fall 2016 semester.

“A recent survey asking our students about their dining preferences showed overwhelming support for bringing Chick-fil-A to campus,” said Jane Willis, dean of Student Affairs. “We are pleased to be able to offer Chick-fil-A Express as our newest dining option for the campus community.”

Chick-fil-A Express will be run by Sodexo, the company that manages all of Newberry College’s food service and catering needs. The streamlined menu will offer some of the restaurant’s most popular selections:

Chicken Biscuits Market Salad
Chick-fil-A Sandwich Waffle Fries
Spicy Chick-fil-A Sandwich Lemonade / Iced Tea / Soft Drinks
Grilled Chicken Sandwich Milk Shakes
Chicken Nuggets

“Sodexo is very excited to partner with Newberry College to bring Chick-fil-A Express to campus,” said Tiffany Bell, Sodexo general manager. “Bringing Chick-fil-A to the College will enhance the everyday dining experience for the students, faculty and staff.  We look forward to opening in August 2016.”

Chick-fil-A Express will be the newest addition to the College’s dining options. Kaufmann Dining Hall serves breakfast, lunch and dinner each day. Other food venues supplement the main dining hall to provide meal and snack options throughout the day. Simply to Go, located in the Science and Math building, offers grab-and-go packaged sandwiches, salads and snacks. Jazzman’s Café offers coffee drinks and gourmet sandwiches and salads.

“The local community in Newberry has long enjoyed taking advantage of the outstanding Sunday brunch offered by Sodexo in Kaufmann Hall,” said Newberry College president Dr. Maurice Scherrens. “Now the community will be able to enjoy Chick-fil-A offerings throughout the week.”

Subway, which offers made-to-order sandwiches and salads, will cease campus operations on April 29 to allow Sodexo to prepare for the opening of Chick-fil-A Express for fall 2016 semester. Sodexo will announce additional menu changes, updated hours and possible expansion of dining options in other parts of campus later this summer.
