Newberry College Alumna Crowned Mrs. South Carolina

Tasha Etter, State Director for Mrs. North and South Carolina United States Pageant announced results from the 2016 pageant that was held May 29th in Charlotte, NC.
Mrs. Quiana Anderson Reed, a resident of Duncan, SC, who is the Director for Recruitment at Spartanburg Community College, was crowned Mrs. South Carolina United States 2016. She will go on to represent the state this summer in Las Vegas, NV in the national Mrs. United States Pageant, Inc.
Anderson, who is 33 years old and a graduate of Newberry College, decided to compete for the opportunity to continue to promote her platform “Character Speaks”, which is geared towards empowering young people through character education and mentoring programs. She hopes to continue being a positive change in her community and further promote her platform by inspiring the younger generation to strive for success not only through education and job skills, but in life. Throughout her career in higher education, Quiana believes it is imperative that we begin today preparing these young people to become successful future leaders for tomorrow.
As Mrs. Reed is preparing to compete in the national pageant, which is less than two months away, she continues to promote her platform and hopes to bring awareness to it on the state and national level.
Quiana is married to Karl Reed, who is an educator and wrestling coach at Limestone College and a professional MMA fighter. Together, they promote “Character Speaks” and living healthy and active lifestyles across the state of South Carolina.
