Newberry College Theatre to present four performances of Doubt: A Parable

NEWBERRY, S.C. The Newberry College Theatre will debut its production of John Patrick Shanleys Doubt: A Parable beginning October 6 in the Wiles Chapel Theatre.
Doubt is set in 1964 at a Catholic school in New York where something peculiar is going on. Doubt is a great play for Newberry College Theater to perform because it deals with issues that affect us all, says director Patrick Gagliano. We hope to invite some dialogue on these issues.
Four students make up the cast of Doubt. Senior Rashawn Miller, an Education major from Kershaw, S.C., portrays Father Brendan Flynn. Junior Stephanie Strickland, a History major and speech minor from Lexington, S.C., plays Sister Aloysius Beauvier. Freshman Amanda Williams, a Theatre major from Goose Creek, S.C., portrays Sister James, and sophomore Rachel Williams, an Elementary Education major and Theatre minor from Barnwell, S.C., plays Mrs. Muller.
This is an intense play filled with drama and question on one's own personal certainty, Strickland says. The audience will definitely be leaving with more questions than answers.
Doubt will be presented Thursday, October 6, through Saturday, October 8, in Wiles Chapel Theater on the Newberry College campus, with each performance starting at 8 p.m. It will also be presented at the Newberry Opera House at 8 p.m. on Friday, October 28, and at 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 29.
Admission is free at both locations for all Newberry College students presenting a valid student ID. General admission for the Opera House performances will be $12.00.
