Patrick Smith Tapped to Lead College’s Career Services Office

Patrick J. Smith has been promoted to Director of Career Services at Newberry College. He joined the College in June 2017 as an academic specialist and athletic liaison in the Center for Student Success, which provides students with a variety of academic support services and career planning assistance.
“We are so impressed with the impact and influence Patrick has had on campus in the 10 months he has been with us,” said Associate Dean for Student Success and Persistence Gretchen Haskett. “The Center for Student Success and the students it serves will greatly benefit from having Patrick in his new role in Career Services.”
Prior to joining Newberry College, Smith served an internship in the Dodie Anderson Academic Center at the University of South Carolina and was a post-graduate assistant in the Otis Hawkins Center for Academic and Personal Excellence at the University of Florida.
Smith received his undergraduate degree at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and earned his master’s degree in Education from Akron University. He also holds certification as an athletic development specialist.
Originally from Hollidayburg, Penn., Smith is a resident of Newberry, S.C.
