On College Day, Newberry College and the Department of Teacher Education welcome over 200 Teacher Cadets to campus from approximately 15 high schools in the Midlands and surrounding area. During the day-long event, high achieving junior and senior Cadets enjoy campus tours, mock classes, small group time with admissions and financial aid officers, and interaction with Newberry College students and faculty. Statistics show that 43% of students completing Teacher Cadets become teachers, so significant time will be devoted to discussions about licensure and teacher preparation, both in general and at Newberry College. We welcome Cadets, their instructors, and parents to Newberry College! For more information, please contact Lynn Dowd (Teacher Cadet Director) at email@example.com. Current Cadets should click here to register for the 2013 College Day.
Newberry College is committed to supporting the success of our graduates in their first years of teaching. With that purpose in mind, the Newberry College Department of Teacher Education, the RETAIN Center of Excellence, and the Stella Senn Williams GROW program partner every year to welcome alumni back to campus for a day of problem-solving, learning, networking, and relaxing. The GROW Symposium is designed to help new teachers in their first 3 years to gain insight and practical advice on a variety of relevant and timely issues. We also encourage young alumni to spread their wings and present. For more information about proposing a session or attending the GROW Symposium, please contact Dr. Lisa Waller (Director, RETAIN Center of Excellence) at firstname.lastname@example.org or visit the RETAIN Center of Excellence website at http://www.retainscteachers.org.
Teacher candidates at Newberry College join an extensive and powerful network of alumni upon graduation. Alumni can be found as honored teachers and well-respected leaders across South Carolina. We are proud of our graduates and proud to represent the what's good and right about education in our state. Every year we celebrate a select group of outstanding alumni, who are selected and inducted into the Newberry College Hall of Master Teachers. The Convocation is held in the evening and is attended by invitation only.
