Honors Program Courses
Six Summerland Honors classes (4 credit hours each) and a Senior Capstone Experience (1 credit hour) are required for completion of the Summerland Honors Program.
   HON 101: In Search of Ourselves
   HON 102: Images of the Human Soul
   HON 201: Looking Through a Lens and Living in Harmony with Nature
   HON 202: Science, Technology, and Values, A Closer Look at Today and the Future
   HON 301: A Not-So-Distant Mirror: The Past as Prologue
   HON 302: Our Many Faces: Facing the Music
   HON 401: The Human Character: Pulling It All Together (Capstone)

Requirements for Continuation in the Program
Through the program, each student is expected to maintain satisfactory progress toward completion as follows.
   End of first semeter: C+ in HON 101 and minumum overall GPA of 2.50
   End of freshman (first) year: minimum GPA of 2.75 in honors courses and overall
   End of Sophomore (second) year: minimum GPA of 3.00 in honors courses and overall
   End of junior (third) year: minimum GPA of 3.25 in honors courses and overall

Graduation Requirements
In order to graduate from the Summerland Honors Program, a student must have a cumulative 3.25 in the seven honors program courses and in the general curriculum.  Successful completion of the honors program requirements is noted at graduation, is recorded on the student’s transcript, and is designated on the student’s diploma.
