On the Cutting Edge

Newberry College's partnership with course-sharing Rize Education offers our students greater access to innovative programs. This partnership allows Newberry to add majors, minors and concentrations by supplementing Newberry's existing program offerings. Rize courses are taught online by industry-leading expert faculty, and promote collaboration between students at member institutions. Newberry's Rize-affiliated programs include Computer Science, Neuroscience, Public & Nonprofit Administration, and two concentrations in Business Administration (Esport Management & Gaming and Supply Chain Management).
Redesigned and reintroduced into the Newberry College curriculum, the Computer Science major seeks to meet growing demands for skilled I.T. professionals, particularly in South Carolina. The computer science track is a more science-heavy, theoretical course of study that will train students for work in coding and programming. The information technology track includes a more hands-on approach, designed for work with hardware and software to improve communication, strengthen security and solve technological problems.

Neuroscience is a growing field and is an ideal course for students who wish to enter medical school - especially with an eye towards psychiatric care. A major in Neuroscience places a strong emphasis on both biology and psychology. In addition, a major in neuroscience offers students a degree with a wide range of possiblities upon graduation and will provide science majors another opportunity to specialize within a growing area of medical science.
This major is offered through a partnership of Newberry College with the Lower Cost Models Consortium. The LCMC neuroscience curriculum was built through a collaboration with leading neuroscience educators and nueroscience offerings will be taught online by experts in the field. The neuroscience curriculum is supplemented with science and psychology courses offered on-site at Newberry College.
