Transfer Made Simple

Started someplace else? No problem! We'll help you transfer those hard-earned credits so you can finish at Newberry College. Our generous transfer financial aid package makes a Newberry education affordable.


Transfer-Friendly Financial Aid

Transfer students are a valuable part of our campus community. To prove it, we offer a comprehensive financial aid package, which includes up to $15,000 in merit-based institutional scholarships specifically for transfer students.

South Carolina residents transferring to Newberry College for 2023-24 may also receive our S.C. Tuition Grant Replacement offer. You may also be eligible for other state-funded scholarships, such as S.C. Life, S.C. Life Enhancement, S.C. Hope, S.C. Palmetto Fellows and S.C. Palmetto Fellows Enhancement.

Transfer students should also be sure to submit their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be eligible for financial aid. Newberry's school code is 003440.

Transferring from a Technical College or Two-Year Institution

  • If you've completed an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree following the university transfer program of study, you will transfer to Newberry College with junior-level standing. You'll have your core curriculum requirements waived, with the exception of the religion core requirement, depending on your coursework at your previous institution.
  • In addition, be sure to view the SCTC Course Equivalency Guide to see what classes will transfer from South Carolina's technical colleges. A maximum of 72 credit hours will be accepted toward graduation for students transferring from a junior, technical, or community college. See the Newberry College Catalog under "Admission to the College" for more details.

Our two-step application process is hassle-free.

  • Complete the transfer application online. We've waived the application fee, and eliminated the letter of recommendation requirement, to make applying easier than ever!
  • Submit college transcripts. Send us your official transcripts for all current and previously attended colleges and universities.
  • If you have fewer than 24 college credit hours, you will need to submit an official high school transcript in addition to your college transcript.

You'll have an admission decision as soon as your required materials arrive.

Minimum GPA

  • 2.0 cumulative transfer GPA to receive a transfer scholarships ranging from $9,000 to $15,000 based upon cumulative credit and GPA. 2.0 GPA required to renew scholarship

Official Transcripts

  • Send us your official transcripts for all current and previously attended colleges and universities

  • Students with more than 24 college credit hours or who are over the age of 25, are not required to submit official high school transcripts

  • Students transferring with fewer than 24 college credit hours must submit official high school transcripts

Transfer Credit Policy

  • College-level courses with grades of “C” or better may be considered for potential transfer credit

  • Military, CLEP, AP courses may also be considered as eligible for transfer

  • Coursework over 10 years old will be evaluated after successful completion of 24 semester hours at Newberry College

  • Remedial courses typically do not transfer
