Bio:

As a student, Carlton Kinard led the student body as president of the Student Government Association and a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. In August 2021, he returned to his alma mater to serve as program coordinator for the Muller Center. He previously served as parenting coordinator at Newberry Elementary School.

A native of Newberry, Kinard was elected to the Newberry City Council in a 2020 special election. He also serves as a member and trustee of New Enoree Baptist Church, president of the Newberry County branch of the NAACP. His other involvements include the Newberry Rotary Club, Family YMCA, Newberry Downtown Development Association, Newberry County Chamber of Commerce, Newberry County Young Professionals, and the GLEAMNS Human Resources Commission.
