Emerson Lovato

Men's Assistant Soccer Coach

Lovato comes to Newberry from Midwestern State University, where he helped the Mustangs to an NCAA second-round tournament appearance and the Lonestar Conference Tournament Championship in 2019.  Midwestern State finished the season 16-5 and was nationally ranked throughout the season, reaching a highpoint of fifth. Emerson's primary duties included assisting with recruiting, coordinating day to day operations, goalkeeper training, conducting training sessions, and equipment management. 
Before Midwestern State, Lovato was an assistant at the University of Texas Permian Basin from 2017-2019.  While working with the Falcons, the team would make their first-ever Heartland Conference tournament appearance, and also had their first winning season as an NCAA Division II member.
Lovato competed collegiately at Stanislaus State and California State University-Los Angeles.  He earned his bachelor's degree in communications and is currently working on his master's degree in Sports Management.
