Bio:

Dr. Neal brings over 30 years of educational experience to her role, including as a middle school math teacher, high school math teacher, department chair for the math department at Piedmont Technical College and the mathematics department chair for the SC Virtual School Program.  She is certified in Advanced Placement Statistics, Advanced Placement Calculus, Gifted and Talented Education, Secondary Mathematics, General Mathematics and Administration and Supervision.  She has worked closely with the South Carolina Standards and Learning Committee to develop curriculum for standards in mathematics and she has worked with the South Carolina Curriculum Course Alignment project.  She was chosen as the SC Technical Education Association Educator of the Year for Piedmont Technical College in 2018 and was the only South Carolina educator chosen, in 2006, as an ACT Visiting Teacher and Test item Writer where she spent six weeks in Iowa City helping to write math test items for the ACT Test.   

In addition to her numerous presentations at mathematics conferences, she is the coauthor of a classroom workbook for using the graphing calculator in mathematics courses.  She is a member of several professional affiliations and has been the SC State Treasurer for the SC Mathematics Association of Two Year Colleges since 2014.
