Bio:
Professor Smith received his B.S. (double major) in Finance and Risk Management from The University of South Carolina, his M.B.A in Business from Webster University. His master’s work focused on globalization and strategic management with an emphasis on project design and implementation.
He is a certified NxLeveL® facilitator (Salt Lake City, Utah) specializing on business start-ups, existing businesses who wish to grow, microenterprises, and specialty training in agriculture-based ventures, going green, signage and money management. Additionally, he is a certified FastTrac NewVenture Trainer with the Kauffman Foundation in Kansas City, Missouri.
Prior to joining the faculty at Newberry College in 2010, Professor Smith taught business education at the Kershaw County School District. Over the past few years, Professor Smith has been collaborating with the Hon. James J. Bailey (YEScarolina), NFTE (Network for Teaching Entrepreneurs), EngenuitySC, South Carolina Council on Economic Education, and the S.C. Jumpstart Coalition to grow the knowledge economy as well as advance the cause of entrepreneurship in South Carolina. He has partnered with Barbara Brown at Clemson University (OMK) to promote financial literacy and entrepreneurship among military veterans, spouses and dependents.
