Bio:
Professor Woolstenhulme has over 20 years of experience in Education. His educational and professional experience is in Social Studies Education, English Speakers of Other Languages, Multicultural Education and students who may not be effectively served by the educational system (“At-Risk”). He is passionate about helping all students succeed and grow through education. In his educational career he has served as a High School History and ESOL teacher, A football and track coach, a school guidance counselor, and in various administrative and supervisory roles. As a professor of education, he has developed and taught over 20 different classes including asynchronous, hybrid and in-person instruction. Scholarly focus includes: Multicultural Education, Sociocultural theory, social justice, and equity in education, second Language acquisition, family Involvement in minority and ELL education, teacher efficacy, preservice teacher training and teacher attitudes towards marginalized student populations, Native American Education, social foundations with emphasis on Dewey, Giroux, Freire, Makiguchi. Critical Social Studies Teaching, qualitative research (narrative inquiry, case study).
