Miss Newberry College, Alexandrea Cromer will be competing for the title of Miss South Carolina on June 24-27 in Columbia, S.C. at the Township Auditorium. A send- off party was held on Saturday, June 14 from at the Dufford Alumni House. Cromer, a senior nursing student has chosen READ (Reveal Enrich Achieve Discover) as her platform. Cromer has visited schools within Newberry county and other surrounding areas to speak to students and promote literacy by reading books and discussing how important education is in a childs life. She has also conducted several book drives and visited the Children's Hospital to donate the books to the family room.
My experiences have helped me grow as person, said Cromer. I have met so many wonderful people of all ages. There has been a great deal of hard work , but it has definitely been worth it. I am blessed to have been provided this opportunity, and I appreciate so much the support I have received. Having participated in the system as a Palmetto Princess in 2006, I had knowledge of the Miss South Carolina and the Miss America Organizations' committment to service. I have learned even more as a contestant, and made many wonderful friends. My goal is to represent Newberry College and the area communities well in the Miss South Carolina pageant. There are so many wonderful young ladies competing, and I am honored to one of them.
