The Newberry College Communications program has received a $1,000 grant from the South Carolina Broadcasters Association Educational Foundation to provide a scholarship for a student planning to pursue a career in broadcast journalism.
The South Carolina Broadcasters Association and its Educational Foundation have been strong supporters of our program and students, said Dr. Jodie Peeler, coordinator of the Newberry College Communications program. This grant rewards one of our promising Communications students for their hard work and dedication to the journalism profession and offers that student a terrific opportunity to further a great education preparing for their field of interest. Peeler added, We greatly appreciate the confidence the SCBA shown in our program.
THE SCBA scholarship will be presented to the student recipient at the Colleges Awards Day Convocation held in April 2015.
Newberry Colleges Communications program is a broad-based program that combines technical training with a strong liberal arts-based education in the theory, history, law and ethics of mass communication. Through classroom training and practical experience, students not only gain technical skills across a variety of media, but also become communicators who know how to use those skills in an ethical and informed manner.
