Honoring Excellence in Education
Newberry College established the Hall of Master Teachers in 2012 to recognize alumni for exemplary dedication, service and excellence in the field of education. Each spring, the education division inducts five master teachers in the following categories:

William Dufford '49 Retired Educator

Educator Working Outside the Classroom

Veteran Classroom Teacher (six years or more)

New Classroom Teacher (in the first five years of teaching)

Nancy Lou Anderson Glasgow '70 Diversity & Equity Warrior in Education
Honorees are selected from a pool of nominations using a blind review process. The educators nominated are evaluated on their professional activities, educational leadership, community involvement and influence on students and colleagues. This year's honorees will be recognized at a banquet on Wednesday, May 14, 2025.
Nominate an Educator
Nominations for the 2025 inductions into the Hall of Master Teachers are now open, and anyone can submit a nomination. All nominations are due Thursday, March 13, 2025.
