Wolf Nation

Your Student Journey Begins

Welcome to Wolf Nation! We look forward to being with you as you take the next steps on your educational journey. To help you make a smooth transition to the Newberry College family, all new students are required to attend Wolf Nation Welcome (new student orientation). Wolf Nation Welcome will help you get your college years off to a great start!

Wolf Nation Welcome

Wolf Nation Welcome is a one-day event designed for freshmen and transfer students and their families to give you your first glimpse of life at Newberry College. You'll learn about campus facilities and resources, finalize your academic schedule and meet with your advisor. It's also an opportunity to connect with new classmates and get acquainted with faculty, staff and coaches. If you have any questions, please contact the Office of First-Year Programs at FYE@newberry.edu or 803.321.5501.

Frequently Asked Questions

Wolf Nation Welcome

Once you have been admitted to Newberry College and have paid your enrollment fee, you will have access to the "Enrollment Fee Paid" tab in Wolf Den, where you will be able to select your preferred Wolf Nation Welcome date. The earlier you attend Wolf Nation Welcome, the sooner you can take care of the details necessary to enroll. You will also meet other new and current students, so attending an earlier date will give you the opportunity to start developing those relationships that much sooner.

A family orientation program runs concurrently with the Wolf Nation Welcome program for students. Families are encouraged to attend Wolf Nation Welcome to acquaint themselves with Newberry College. Family Orientation is free for two guests/family members of a freshman student. Additional guests are $10 per person (children 5 and under are free). Payment will be accepted on the day of orientation in the form of cash or check (made payable to Newberry College).

Family Orientation sessions include:
• Helping your student through the first year of college
• Applying for financial aid and paying tuition and fees
• Understanding academic policies, graduation requirements and support services
• Learning about life on campus, health services, safety and student success programs

Family members and students will be together for some sessions, while separate for others, During a joint lunch faculty/staff representatives will be present so families and students can acquaint themselves with various individuals from different departments.

Wolf Nation Welcome would not be possible without our student Alpha Leaders! Alpha Leaders are a team of specially trained students who are ready to help you get started at Newberry College. They are involved on campus in student organizations, Greek Life, athletics and student government association. Alpha Leaders participate in every Wolf Nation Welcome summer session and Howl Effect. Students and parents will be assisted by one or more Alpha Leader who is there to help guide you through the day and to answer any questions that may arise during the sessions.
