Downtown Newberry

Historic Downtown Newberry

Nearly every building in downtown Newberry is on the National Register of Historic Places. Come for a pleasant day of shopping and dining, visit the Newberry Arts Center, and see a show at the iconic Newberry Opera House for a cultural boost.

Lake Murray Country

Located just 20-30 minutes from campus, Lake Murray is often referred to as the “Jewel of South Carolina”. The lake was just ranked 24 out of 100 best lakes in the nation and has been voted in the top 10 places to boat and live. Boating, jet-skiing, fishing, kayaking, hiking and camping on an island are some of the activities of choice.

Dreher Island State Park

If camping is your thing, then Dreher Island State Park is the place for you! The park offers three islands, 348 acres and access to 12 miles of Lake Murray shoreline. Water sports, nature trails and some of the best striped and large-mouth bass fishing spots make Dreher Island an ideal getaway.
