The Student Government Association is an assembly of elected and appointed delegates who represent the interests of the student body. SGA recognizes and funds student organizations, holds town hall meetings, elects professors and staff members of the year, and speaks on behalf of the student body in various aspects of campus life. Currently, nine members are elected annually by the student body, and nine are appointed to represent fraternities and sororities, campus ministries and student athletes, among others.

Greek Life

You may choose to enhance your Newberry College experience with the unique opportunities of Greek Life. Fraternities and sororities promote scholarship, provide leadership opportunities, build lasting friendships, encourage community service and philanthropy, and allow for social and athletic opportunities. The Office of Greek Life currently advises 11 fraternities and sororities.

The mission of an Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., is "to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards, to promote unity and friendship among college women, to study and help alleviate problems concerning girls and women to improve their social stature, to maintain a progressive interest in college life, and to be of Service to All Mankind." The brothers of Kappa Alpha Order present incredible opportunities for building leadership with the strong bonds of brotherhood they have developed, by living together, growing together, and learning about each other in a positive and healthy environment. The brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. around the world participate in community outreach activities to feed the homeless, provide scholarships to young people matriculating to college, serve as mentors to young men, participate in blood drives and serve as hosts of seminars for public health awareness. Campus Ministry

Living in God's Amazing Grace

As you explore and grow in your faith, campus ministry can provide fun activities, a sense of community, and a spiritual education. Everyone -- regardless of faith tradition, church affiliation, or age -- is invited to be a part of campus ministry at Newberry College.

Each week classes are in session, Wednesday Chapel offers the College community a chance to stop, reflect, and be inspired by God's Word and works. Our 40 minute services are held Wednesdays at 10 a.m. in Wiles Chapel.

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes offers weekly student-led faith discussions and fellowship for all students, regardless of church affiliation or athletic participation. Meetings are held at 9 p.m. each Monday, in varying locations across campus.

Wolves Pantry, located in Weber Campus Ministry House, offers meal solutions for students, faculty and staff experiencing food insecurity. Whether it’s a recurrent necessity or an occasional gap, this resource is available for all. Click here to learn more and get involved.


Campus Recreation

Newberry College is committed to providing students with a wide variety of sport-related activities to help promote a positive outlook and a healthy lifestyle. Whether you work out at the fitness center, compete in intramural leagues, take a group exercise class, or participate in other activities and health-related contests throughout the year, the Office of Campus Recreation is committed to programming that supports your social, mental and physical well-being. Esports

Newberry College is proud to offer esports as an intercollegiate sport, having first launched in 2019. The program's home is Apex Arena, located in Wright Hall and equipped with state-of-the-art gaming computers. Wolves esports competes in "Call of Duty," "Fortnite," "League of Legends," "Madden," "Overwatch," "Rocket League," and "Valorant." The program is affiliated with the National Association of Collegiate Esports and the New England Collegiate Conference.

Ensemble participation offers the opportunity to make lifelong friends, enhance musical ability, and travel to new and exciting places, all while earning scholarships and credit toward your degree. To learn more about musical ensembles, reach out to the Department of Music.

Regardless of your major, if you have a passion for acting, production, and sharing your talents, there is a place for you in the student theatre. With our Lookin' Sharp Improv Team, semesterly plays, and biannual musicals, there are plenty of opportunities to "break a leg." To learn more about theatre, reach out to Professor Mandy Butler.


Speech & Debate

Newberry College's Speech & Debate Team allows students to hone their speaking and performing skills and compete against their peers across the country. No prior experience is required, students in any program of study can join, and scholarships are available. Click here to learn more.


Fitness Center

The fitness center is a place for students, faculty and staff to get a good workout and meet their health and fitness goals. The fitness center provides a variety of cardio equipment, free weights, and weight machines. Housed in the O.L. Casey Center, the facility is available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. until 10 p.m.
